Looking through the scope of her brand new WA2000, Gail was getting ready to kill her target when she heard the sound of a guitar. "That damn dude and his guitar.." she thought as her target approached her slowly. She pulled the trigger on her rifle and heard the collapse of the little bugger heading toward her. That's it, she thought, die and leave all my friends alone. She smiled confidently as the guitar sound hit her ears again, closer than before. FrightKnight approached her stealthily; he had stopped strumming so he could sneak up on her like the (sometimes) jerk that he was. "Whatcha doin?" he asked playfully. Startled, Gail shot the air. "Dammit boy! you made me waste a bullet.. you better pay me back," she said, sticking her tongue out even though she knew he couldnt see her for crap. "Sorry... oh wait. i'm not that sorry," he chuckled, as he opened his field kit full of supplies and handed her a water. She chugged happily. "Thank you so much.. You have no idea how long i've needed this." Holding the bottle to her lips again, she drank some more before he took the bottle. "wait.. what the.." she pouted, confused. "Take it easy on that water," he cautioned. "We don't have that much left." She shrugged. "alright." Just then Cutter and Bert approached, laughing happily as they walked toward the pair. FrightKnight took the bottle and put it back in his kit, hiding it from their friends. They didn't need to see the things the two of them were able to find. They could find their own. "What's up you two?" Gail asked suspiciously. "Y'all are a bit too giggly considering we have to try and, you know, survive?" She shrugged again and leaned in towards them, holding her rifle against her leg. "We just took out a fort. That was really fun," Cutter said, and the two laughed again. "Shhh... you're gonna attract more undead jerks," FrightKnight warned. They had been trying to keep them away from their little corner of possible safety, and Gail was so tired and dehydrated that she sent him on a mission for food and water. She leaned into him, trying not to doze off. "It's alright sweetie. You can sleep. you've done a lot today," he whispered as he rubbed her sore shoulders. She winced in slight pain, then managed to fall asleep slowly. The three boys started chatting quietly as Gail slept; Cutter on zombie dooty and FrightKnight continuing to hold her against him so she wouldn't be awakened by movement if he tried laying her down in her little tent. "Sometimes I wonder how she does this alone," he said quietly, looking down at his companion and "partner in crime" as he called her, stroking her face softly. "She sends me out on these missions and takes all the stress of everything else and lets it weigh her down. She's just so stubborn. She won't let me help her unless it's to go get supplies.." "I don't know man," Cutter whisperd, looking at a target through the scope of Gail's rifle. He lost his in the fight he had mentioned before, so he took hers off of her hip once she had fallen asleep. "You better make sure that's with her by the time she wakes up. I dont need her to have another anxiety attack if she sees it missing," FrightKnight chuckled softly. "I know, I know," Cutter moaned, slightly annoyed at his friend. He pulled the trigger and they all waited to hear the collapse of the zombie, sighing in relief when they heard that infamous sound. Gail shuttered a bit from the noise, and her friend squeezed her gently. "It's alright. just making sure we don't get hurt tonight." Bert, having sat quietly for awhile, spoke up. "I don't think she'll let you stay and shoot because she doesn't want you to get hurt like you did last time. We all saw what that did to her." "I know," FrightKnight sighed. "I don't want to see her like that again either, but I'm wondering why she got so upset. I stayed to help because she asked me too. Things were fine before i got bitten, and ever since then, something has changed in her." "Again, I don't know. Maybe she just doesn't want you to disappear? Or maybe it's a matter of her anxiety getting to be too much?" Bert was thinking out loud now. "Alright dude," Cutter said tiredly. "We better get off to sleep. We have a long day of killing and staying alive again tomorrow." The three of them laughed almost loud enough for Gail to wake up again, but stopped when they heard her move. "Alright guys," FrightKnight yawned. "Sleep well." Just before they left, Bert spoke up again. "Honestly, if you want her to let you stay here and help kill, you may want to have a conversation with her about it. She might change her mind if you tell her what's really on your mind and how you feel." The pair left, walking slowly, looking back to make sure their friends were going to be alright for the next six to eight hours. FrightKnight grabbed Gail's jacket and draped it over them. He decided that moving her tonight might not be a good idea since she was waking at every little noise or movement. "Goodnight, Gail," he whispered as he got as comfortable as he could. He made sure her gun was by her side in case they needed it, and they both drifted off to sleep.
